Have you noticed that baby names are getting more and more obscure, these days? You only have to go to the supermarket or walk past a school at home time to hear the bizarre monikers called out by parents.

Where is this competitive naming going to end?

Noticing this bizarre trend, parenting group, Bounty Parenting Club, conducted a survey, which revealed one in three parents claim their child has an unusual name.

However, The poll, of more than 3000 parents, found more than one in 10 parents regretted their decision to veer from the norm and that the same number of children, perhaps unsurprisingly, did not like their name with a growing number asking for it to be changed.

Three quarters of people who had given their child a traditional name believed more alternative parents were paving the way for their child to be bullied. They added that those who had chosen more wacky names were selfish and not thinking of their child.

The parenting group went on to compile "The Most Unusual Names of the Decade", after trawling through millions of recorded names given to newborns over the past decade.

Celebrities, including footballers such as Rooney, were found to be an influence. Hippy names were also popular such as Stone, Gift, Echo and Heaven.
